Dischidia \’Geri\’ is a popular variety of the genus Dischidia, a group of semi-epiphytic, tropical vining plants related to Hoyas. It is known for its small, heart-shaped, fleshy green leaves and easy-to-care-for nature. While its flowers are inconspicuous, its foliage makes it a popular choice for hanging baskets. Foliage: The leaves of \’Geri\’ are small, rounded, and deep green, with a glossy, almost velvety appearance. They grow densely along the stems, giving the plant a full, lush look.Growth habit: As a trailing plant, it is ideal for hanging baskets or climbing up a moss pole or trellis. It can form dense clumps of foliage and is a relatively moderate grower.Light: Prefers bright, indirect light. It can tolerate some direct morning sun but should be protected from harsh afternoon rays, which can scorch the leaves. In low light, its growth will slow down.Watering: As a semi-epiphyte, \’Geri\’ prefers to dry out slightly between waterings, so it is important not to overwater. You can allow the top few inches of soil to dry out before watering.Soil: Use a well-draining, aerated potting mix. Since it grows as an epiphyte in nature, a barky or coconut-based soil mixture works well.Humidity: It tolerates average household humidity but will appreciate higher humidity levels. Occasional misting can be beneficial.Repotting: This plant prefers to be somewhat pot-bound, so it does not need to be repotted often.Fertilizing: It does not require much fertilizer. A low-nitrogen fertilizer can be applied annually.
