Origin and Description:
Hoya australis is native to Australia and surrounding regions like New Guinea and the Solomon Islands. This specific variety, known for its outer variegated and pubescent (hairy) leaves, is a stunning variation of the species. The leaves are characterized by their outer creamy white or yellow margins, which contrast beautifully with the green center. The pubescence (soft hair) on the leaves adds a unique texture, making this variety particularly special.

Natural Habitat:
In its natural habitat, Hoya australis grows as an epiphyte in tropical rainforests, where it climbs trees and shrubs. It prefers a humid environment with bright, indirect light, similar to the dappled sunlight it would receive under the forest canopy.

Care Instructions:

• Light: Prefers bright, indirect light. It can tolerate some direct morning sunlight, but intense afternoon sun should be avoided to prevent leaf scorch.
• Watering: Allow the top inch of the soil to dry out between waterings. Overwatering can lead to root rot, so ensure the pot has good drainage.
• Humidity: Thrives in moderate to high humidity. You can increase humidity with a humidity tray or a room humidifier if needed.
• Temperature: Best kept in temperatures between 65F to 80F (18C to 27C). Protect it from cold drafts or temperatures below 50F (10C).
• Soil: Use a well-draining potting mix that includes perlite or orchid bark to enhance drainage.

This outer variegated and pubescent variety of Hoya australis is an excellent choice for collectors who appreciate both the visual appeal and unique textures in their plants. Its relatively easy to care for, making it suitable for both novice and experienced plant enthusiasts.
