The Story of Hoya sp. Germany by Ted Green

Ted Green, a notable figure in the Hoya community, received a unique cutting from a friend in Germany. This cutting was of an unidentified Hoya, which Ted and his friend couldnt trace back to any known species or published descriptions. As a result, they decided to name it Hoya sp. Germany, in honor of its mysterious origin and the country from which it was gifted. Despite its name, the plant is not native to Germany.

This Hoya is recognized for its large, robust leaves with a stiff, rough texture and prominent venation. The foliage often exhibits a splotchy greenish-yellow variegation, making each leaf distinct. The flowers of Hoya sp. Germany are typically plum-colored and grouped in umbels, emitting a faint fragrance. This plant thrives in bright, indirect light and prefers moderate to high humidity, making it a fascinating addition to any Hoya collection.

Ted Greens story highlights the serendipitous nature of plant discovery and the enduring mystery surrounding some species in the Hoya genus. His dedication to the cultivation and sharing of Hoyas has left a lasting impact on the community, inspiring many to explore and appreciate these unique plants.
