Prunus serrula

Prunus serrula is a small to medium-sized deciduous cherry cherished for its gleaming, peeling mahogany-brown bark that provides exceptional winter interest. In spring it produces small, single white blossom, and through the season carries slender green leaves. Best grown as a specimen in full sun or light shade and moist but well-drained, moderately fertile soil, it forms an elegant, upright crown over time, ultimately reaching around 812m in height with a 48m spread.

To help give a clear sense of scale, the stone wall shown in our photos measures approximately 265cm in height. We also use familiar garden tools as visual references: a digging fork (110cm tall) and a hand fork (30cm tall). These are included purely as size guides to help you better judge proportions when viewing the images.
